The Millenia (Xedos 6) was part of Mazda's aborted attempt at a luxury marque (a la Infiniti, Acura, and Lexus). It was supposed to be the first car of the Amati line. I think (but I'm not sure) that Ford axed it due to the costs. That's why the Millenia never had a real home. A shame...

Body kit and suspension only. Engine work will have to wait for the upcoming MPS RX-8. Save up your drool - I hear 200hp 1.5liter rotor. That is one very hot kit though.

Here are some spy pics of the new Mazda3 hatch. There is a big obstruction at the back hiding whether or not it's a hatch like the Mazda6 or closer to a wagon like the present P5. In these pictures, if you look through the rear window at the C&D pillars, it looks like a small window sloping...

Torque behavior from a rotary is not the same as for a piston engine. Rotaries have always been high rev low torque. That's the nature of the beast. The car has 50:50 balance, four comfy seats, looks like a champ and has a very upscale interior. What more do you want?

Basically it comes down to your tastes and priorities. The Altima has superior power and acceleration. The Mazda has superior handling and driving dynamics as well as a higher class interior. If you're out to win the stoplight races, get the Altima. IMHO the 6 is a better overall sports sedan.

You said it didn't have much pickup before 3500 RPM. Well that's about how it is. It has variable valve timing (S-VT) that allows it to have a more aggressive cam profile above 3500 RPM. With the exception of the break in period, if you're not driving it above that, then you're not driving it...
