autocrossed the '87 RX-7 on Sunday... best run: took 2nd in csp. worst run: spun, flatspotted a tire thru the cords, and then spun again because of that... limped it back home, ehe...

started bodywork on the RX-3 FINALLY entire car is stripped of paint, ground off the small rust spots, and sprayed with rust treatment, got primer on the roof, a-pillars, doors, and trunklid... started blocking it off with primer and black rattlecan paint to find the low and high spots...

just did the first regular oil change on the '99 daily driver (first 3000 mile change... I did change the oil at about 200 miles right after the new motor was dropped in)

Autocrossed my FC RX-7 at LVMS. Results haven't been posted yet, but from talking to the others in CSP, I think I took 3rd place, my co-driver took 2nd... we were beaten by a miata with much fresher tires... also, in the "fun runs" that were held after the event, I got my first chance to drive...

new paint job on the '91 SPECMIATA took it out saturday and sunday on the 3.1 mile course PDX at SMMR... learned a lot, had a blast.

miata motor is a "non-interference" motor. even if you had the cam gears in completely the opposite place than they're meant to be, you cannot kill the motor by having the timing belt in wrong.... if it doesn't start after, the worst thing is just having to tear it down and put the belt and cams...

mazdaspeed comp LSD went into the specmiata today (got it for a great deal from another local SM racer who was upgrading to a 1.8L torsen unit) also found a pinhole leak in one of the connectors for the small coolant lines attached to the thermostat housing... hopefully will be able to fix it...

Huh? Kev, I thought you knew more about miatae than me? The OEM radiator is about the only thing Mazda underengineered on the miata. It's half plastic, and looks like garbage... and usually fails at about 100k miles... the Koyo "direct replacement" I have looks nothing like the oem POS. I too...

doesn't it sound awesome? I've never heard one on the 1.6, but I've got the one for the 1.8 and it growls like its angry, and intending to eat anything that gets in its way.
