Why? Because I'd rather have xenon projectors that are designed for those types of bulbs, instead of a rebased HID bulb inside of a halogen projector. I won't settle for a cheap HID kit. I'd be more willing to do a retrofit to another xenon projector, something like this...

80w? What were the stock ones. If they're 55, you better keep an eye on them. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary either. Until my driver's side headlamp started flickering. And by then it was almost too late.

D2S are xenon bulbs for OEM setups. If you're getting a pnp kit you're buying rebased bulbs that are made to fit where your halogen bulbs go, hence H11.

Just check what wattage is printed on the bulbs themselves and make sure it matches the factory rating. I had some old Nokya bulbs on my Protege5 that were advertised as 55w on the box. After my wiring harness had started to melt I thought to check the bulb itself, and lo and behold it was 75w.

The GTI is the original hot hatch. ;) It can still hold its own. It's just not as fast as some of the competition.
