That's possible. Caliper pins need to be clean and lubed to perform well. If you are in a winter climate the pins can get corroded very easy. They still can be difficult to remove, but the corrosion can still be in the guide which should be cleaned out as well.

Interesting point on the center resonator, the shop I used said they would take it out as well. They would run new 3" from cat to the tips, with magnaflow muffler, and reuse the tips.

Good to hear it is finally resolved, and I hope Justice prevailed not just for your vehicle, but also for all of the inconvenience and wasted time this leak caused you in your life.

Update: the exhuast shop gave me a quote of $300 which includes catback exhaust. The owner said the the cat that is in there already flows well, and they are known to be reliable. He would be replacing the dual exhaust pipes with a larger diameter set up. Anyone want to comment more...

Did we ever hear from the Original Poster. Either they changed the oil or did not. If they truly did not know they should have changed the oil at proper intervals on a brand new vehicle, it may speak to some larger issues of awareness.

Yes, according to service records the transmission was flushed at 75k miles. I will probably do a drain/refill at 100k. I was worried about the tranny issues but at least it has had some attention, even if it was a flush.
