Synthetic Oil opinions and experiences wanted

Hi folks, I'm new here. I've been reading a bit.

I got a new Mazdaspeed 6 a little over a month ago and it's about time for it's first oil change. I'm considering switching to synthetic oil and wondered if anyone had any experiences with synthetic oil in the speed 6 and if it's worth it or not. I'm on the fence right now. So, anyone using synth in it? What kind? How much benefit are you seeing from it?

Thanks,
Steve

i used royal purple in my ES-T and i hated it, read some more on it and royal purple is not all it was supposed to be!! my car just didnt run right! might sound weird but it didnt. then i researched and read alot of opinions and they agree. mobil one has the best results i have found, or read about. that is about all i have.

I'm in a toss up between going with the readily available mobil 1, or keeping up with going to my dealer for amsoil. Many will agree amsoil is a superior product, but hell mobil 1 is... well mobil 1. God idk who or what to trust...

ampsoil actually lost on this website! but on others it wins!! so i guess it is a toss up!

this story may not fit exactly in this thread but here it is

my wife's 04 6S Wagon 3.0 V6 has been having clicking sound (like metal to metal contact) since day 1 we got the car. we thought it may be normal so leave it there..2 yrs after as of now..it still exist..so i finally brought the car in and have dealer take a look..tech claimed coz we used pennzoil 5W-30 so it's too thick for "special designed" 3.0 V6 engine..i told him i have been using syntheic 5W-20 and 0W-20 since the 1st oil change in 2k miles...he said "i believe you sir but since u just wanted us to put in ur new 5W-30..the clicking sound will still be there"..his suggestion is to used dealer's "orange 5W-20" conventional oil and it may go away in 1 to 2 month...

i don't know..i just don't buy it..and i tend to stick with what i know..go for sythentic no matter what..and maybe bring to other dealers next time...

I have had my speed 6 for 6 months now and have had 2 oil changes and both times I have asked about synthetic and the say mazda does not recomend it they say I should use just basic oil but with the same oil going throught he turbo i would like to use synthetic. My dad uses amsoil in his dodge deisel and it actually gave him 2 mpg more the before. and another question the manual states 5k-7.5k oil changes but mazda here in s. florida states 3k only has anyone else heard that or me???

Speaking of oil changes. Is the first oil change/service on a MS6 realy at 7,500 miles?
