What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Initially I did not want to install paddle shifter extensions, but I went for it.
I have to get used to them, but I guess they are OK. I did not want to go with the other model, because that is way to long.
This model, offers some see through option as well.
Installing them, it was a bit of a pain, though. I had to use some pliers to squeeze the plastic shifters in these aluminum extensions, to be able to tighten the set screws.
You wouldn't believe where did I install these, at Best Buy's parking lot.

A bit over the top but I kind of dig it. Looks easy to grip and matches the pedals. Whats the material?

These are the spacers I fitted:

Here's the same seller's listing on eBay if you're not an Amazon shopper:

Easy to install, and definitely improves the stance of the car to what it should be!

These are the exhaust tips: http://www.42draftdesigns.com/3-5-brushed-double-wall-exhaust-tip-3-0-weld-on/

A little pricey at US$75 EACH (not a pair), but I had search all over the place looking for something exactly like this, and apart from a MagnaFlow, there was nothing similar. I was going to get the cheapy ebay ones ($40 for a pair), but in the end I am extremely happy I paid extra and got such good quality tips. They are solid and oh so beautiful with the brushed finish!

Can't really comment on that as I haven't had the opportunity yet to do any spirited driving...but I imagine the difference is barely noticeable. The CX-5 drives great as it is. It definitely improves the look of the car!!

I kind of feel the same about the shifters, but I rather have these, then the much longer type. I'm even thinking of modifying them a bit.

I've ordered the parts to do the Paddle Shifter retrofit, and I saw these on ebay. I was debating getting them, but figured I should just wait and see how the stock paddles are.

What didn't you like about the Mazda paddles? Not big enough? Kinda boring looking? Something else?

Pity there aren't better options out there for the paddles .

Exactly that, not big enough and kind of boring looking.
These are out there a bit for me as well, but I believe it's the better looking one.
I'm a machinist, so I may be able to modify them, if I will come up with a better idea.

I'd be VERY interested to see what you can come up with. If it didn't have those arrow cutouts, I'd imagine you would have more options to modify them.

I'm thinking about removing, the inner material from the cutouts. Just leave the side with the +/- sign.

Hi everyone, just joined the community / forums. I am a new Mazda CX-5 GT owner. Just getting use to it, love it so far. I believe I have been lucky enough to see that it is a recall a few days after I bought it. Well, at least is not an electrical or mechanical problem.

That seems like a good idea. Anything that makes them a more appropriate size.

Have you found the lower part of the extensions to be useful? If I were able to customize them I'd probably look to remove the bottom half. Your thoughts?

No, I never use that part. It's a good idea actually.
What bothers me the most, is that I see the original black plastic shifter in the aluminum one. If I could make it somehow to be all aluminum, or everything all black.

I've been thinking about getting the paddle. Currently if I need to change gears at redline (particularly while low gear hard cornering) I have to hurry up and smack the shifter (literally) into D to make if shift before I get fuel cutoff. It's most inconvenient when accelerating through 90 degrees in first where the RPM's come up fast. It works fine but it makes me have to take one hand off the wheel at a time that I'm trying to add precise steering and throttle inputs.

Installed front & rear wheel spacer last weekend. This weekend got the exhaust tips upgraded. Went with 3.5" double-walled tips.

Hmm, I take back what I said. I was looking at tips for the exhaust I'm building and even the cheapest with free ship are running about $18. The problem is finding a 2.5 to 3" outline, that isn't like 6- 12" long!

I'll probably get this https://www.ebay.com (commissions earned). I need something cheap because I may have to cut it or something.

That style is available in grey and also black.

I found this video showing the other 'tall' style paddle extensions:

Seeing it in the video, and in that gunmetal grey color, it doesn't seem excessively tall, and what I find attractive about it compared to the ones above is the shape better matches the instrumental display. I think I might actually prefer this style, but again I'd look to remove the bottom half.

I'm not sure if that specific part is compatible, but you'll need more than just that part.

Here's your go to for the Paddle Shifters retrofit. This is the thread I used to figure out the exact parts to order.

This is primarily for a 2016 model, but a couple of members with 2014s have contributed to the thread.

I got it from Canadaseatskins.ca their prices vary based on options and leather content. If your handy/capable you can save yourself a bit of money if you install it yourself like I did. They are authorized dealers of katskinz, which is what you see in the pic.

The Katskins look pretty good. Did you need the hog ring pliers? Did you run into issues with wiring in the drivers seat? Were the back seats easier or harder than the fronts? Thanks!

Under a grand? Under two grand?
