new motor worth the price?

I finally found someone with a motor and tranny for sale for my 00 protege. He's asking 600 for the motor and 400 for the tranny both have about 60k. What I wanna know is it worth the price or should I keep looking?
Also would I need any extra equipment when putting a lx's 1.8 in a dx?

it depends on wht you are using it for, do you plan on racing it? if so, go with bigger displacement (2.0). for the 1.8l, you will need the ecm/ecu for it.
