Hey Guys, just wondering if anyone has changed the timing belt
themselves, I have done it on other cars, but never a Protege... just
wondering if its difficult, and special tools required other than the basics,
any issues lining up the belt, and also i wanna change the waterpump..

thanks in advance, any pics would be appreciated.

Cheers

need to do mine soon i am in the process of removing my tranny to replace the clutch right now. 1st things 1st. then i will probably try to fix my rear main seal leak and then change the timing belt. I would check the how to section on this site and see if anybody has posted one on changing the timing belt.

one of my friends did it himself...took him a while....(about 6 hours).
i took mine to a local toyota dealership because they had a coupon for $150 installed...so unless you really know what you are doing and have patience and tools necessary, it is not worth the headache..(plus if the shop mess it up,they have to do it again free of charge!!)

yeah if i could get a deal like that i would just pay to have it done. it does not look to hard to do by looking at it. I probably will do it myself i figure that if i can get the tranny out and put back in and it runs then i can do anything.
