CX-7 TSB (Technical Service Bulletins)

CLUNKING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING FROM P TO R

Does anyone know where I can actually get this TSB? The above link doesn't work, even if you navigate directly to it.

The Canadian dealers like to pretend that these issues don't exist, so if I had something to show them it might help. This is one of the many problems I'm having with my CX-7.

Thanks!

In case the link gets broken, here is the text version:
CLUNKING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING FROM P TO R
Bulletin No: 03-004/06
Last Issued: 07/21/2006
2007 MAZDA CX-7 AWD - CLUNKING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING FROM P TO R
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2007 CX-7 AWD vehicles with VINs lower than JM3ER29L970117176 (produced before June 20, 2006)
DESCRIPTION
Some AWD vehicles may exhibit a high frequency clunking noise (metal noise) from the front propeller shaft when shifting from P to R range. The slight noise of the disengagement of the parking gear is amplified by resonance of the powertrain unit and propeller shaft causing a loud metal noise. A noise insulation damper has been added to the front propeller shaft to reduce the noise.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern using the following method.
2. On a flat surface, start the engine cold.
3. With the parking brake applied and brake pedal depressed, repeat shifting from P to R range.
NOTE:
Do not shift into N or D range during repeat shifting.
When the idle speed is high, the clunking noise may not occur. The noise normally occurs after repeating P to R range shifting several times when the idle speed is approximately 1,000 rpm.
4. Replace the propeller shaft with a modified part according to the Workshop Manual (section 03-15 PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
5. Verify repair.

so i just printed out every single one of these, and i really cant get over how many "fixes" there actually are. Now, i have never tuned into tsb's, at all, when i owned my Honda's & Acura's. However, after this Mazda im focused right in on them....is this an extreme amount of TSB's or are do other manufactures have similar amounts? Some of these TSB's make me just shake my head like they should have been incorporated into the vehicle before release, but o well, at least they are trying.

Is there a TSB for oil dipstick calibration? Or typo in the manual for 6 quarts of oil?

If you put in 6 qts and a new filter, you get about an inch above the full line!

I would suggest you contact Mazda directly. If they are made aware of the issue they will be able to make any necessary corrections to the manual.

Your service center may have a list of TSBs also

Do you know if a tsb will come out for the engine oil dipstick?

The owners manual says to use 6 quarts. This overfills the engine per dipstick by up to an inch above full line.

If you put in less oil than reccomended to get exactly on full line you may be under filling and cause damage either way.

I hear you, but you'll have to take your question to Mazda. Unless someone here works for Mazda, I doubt we'll know about future TSB's. Your concern seems valid, give Customer Service a call.

Oil Dipstick mis calibrated tsb?

Oil Dipstick mis calibrated tsb or Owners manual spec on oil fill 6 qts tsb.
One of these is off, its been proven by many on here when they change their oil and find it far above full line on dipstick when putting in the recomended 6 qts!

I think we will find that the initial fill is 6 quarts and the refill is 5.6 quarts. Does the 2008 owners manual address this issue?
