A few weeks ago I could swear I saw a thread about someone selling these here, but can't find it anymore. Was it deleted or am I imaging things? Anyone know what I'm talking about. Can't get any hits using the search. Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure but I think it was Silver Ecstasy who was trying to get mounts for the V1 and escort series.

Here is a site that has mounts. I have one on my MS3 and they are very good quality. They have two sizes. My car had a homelink added at the dealer and required the larger mount. The factory homelink may not be the same size. I think that the smaller size probably fits the standard mirror, but I would measure yours to be sure. The good thing about these are that they don't have to figure out what to make like the others that were mentioned.

Chief,

Did you take the plastic off around the rain sensor (or do you not have the rain sensor?). I ordered the 3/4" mount and got it in the mail yesterday. Needless to say, it doesn't fit and I think I just wasted $45. I measured the stem and figured that one would fit, but it's actually too large. They don't make one smaller, so either I buy the optional mirror kit for our car or use the regular suction cup mount and swallow $45.

I have the dealer installed Homelink that uses the .9" or 23 mm. mount.
I do have the rain sensor but didn't have to remove anything.
I measured mine with calipers so I knew the exact size.
Sorry yours didn't fit.

Auto dimming with or without home link uses the .9"/23mm.

If your mount is to big go get a foot of heater hose and make a shim for it, works fine. They will also allow you to return it for a fee.

Note: all my comments are based on the V1 version can't comment on the BEL version though I would think the same issue with getting the unit level would be in play.

I have one from country joy also and can tell you if you have a V1 you will have to make some shims between their mount and the plastic V1 mount that it screws into other wise the V1 will be pointing to the sky. Our stems does not have enough movement to get the V1 level!

Also on mine the hole that the mirror stem attaches to was not round (its in two pieces) so when I bolted it together it scratched the crap out of the stem. I sent them pictures clearly showing the issue and since they had my CC number and I needed to use the mount for a long trip the next day I asked them to just ship me a new corrected one and I would ship the defective one back. However they insisted on having me ship the defective one back on my dime for them to inspect before they would commit to anything.

Bottom line it's a nice product beautify made, they respond quickly to questions and ship fast but it will not work out of the box with the Valentine V1 with auto dimming mirror and quality control on the one I got was not great. The problem with it not being level could easly be corrected by them including a small piece of wedge shaped aluminum however I got the impression there was little interest on there end to improve the product.

Seems like the just specialize in 350Z and Mini stuff. I have a GT with the plain Jane mirror. The problem is, the stem is not round. It's almost square and there is not alot of room between the mirror and the black box looking thing that covers the windshield where the stem connects to. I'll have to take a pic tomorrow. Anyway, their site says that the 3/4" fits the Mazda3, so I went with that. Unfortunately, it doesn't.

The mount for the Mini/BMW is 5/8 inch. Would that fit?

Hmmm... it may. I guess the main problem is that there is no clearance between the mirror and the black plastic housing that is attached to the windshield (anyone know what is under that thing?). Looks like your homelink mirror stem is abit longer (and round). I may try the heater hose trick, but that is borderline getto :D But hey, if it works... Tonight if I remember, I'll take a pic. Worse comes to worse, I'll rig something up or end up having to send this one back, with a $3 restock fee and have them send me another one.

Take a look at the mini mount it is thinner than the standard also.
I don't know what kind of clearance issue you have but from the pics it looks like it is a 1/2" thick or less. It might be an option.

Just to add 2 cents. I have a Sport with the standard rearview mirror and the 3/4 inch works fine. I didn't have any mounting/attahcment issues.

FrequentFlyer - Remeasure the inner diameter of the bore. They may have sent you the wrong one. Their fault means they should send the correct one, no questions asked. I am sure some of us that have bought them will raise a stink for you.

07SilverSpeed6,

The mirror stem of the MS3 with a plain jane mirror and rain sensing wipers is "L" shaped and is not actually round. It's more square with rounded corners. Now, I don't think it being more square is an issue, as I'm sure these mounts will clamp to it if it's the right size. However, because the stem is "L" shapped, there is not enough room between the mirror and the 90 degree bend to get the mount in there. I'm not even sure the Mini Cooper type mount they have will work, so I decided to hold off for now and look for alternatives. I've been driving around without a radar detector for about a month now since I bought the car because I hate using the OE detector mount with the suction cups. The detector rattles against the windshield when I go over bumps.

07SilverSpeed6: Would you be able to take a pic of your installed detector? I also have a 2008 Mazdaspeed3 Sport with the basic rearview mirror, and am considering this mount with a Passport 9500ix hardwired. I'd sure appreciate it!
