I keep smelling coolant but I cant see any leaks. My coolant level seems to have dropped a bit. Does anyone know about what it would cost to have a shop do a pressure test to check for leaks? I was thinking that I need one of those tubes withs the little colored balls but I dunno if thats the right tool to do it myself.

i think thats the test to measure the coolant mixture and temperature. the test leak you need a little pump. hook it up to radiator and pump it. maybe you can rent one from autozone...

a coolant pressure test has a little pump, and a pressure gauge and a little fitting that will fit over the radiator cap, what you are thinking of is a coolant/water ratio test

Page 4 explains the cooling system leakage test in detail.

You can do it yourself if you buy the tester. Don't have a cost, but you can e-mail the folks at mazdastuff.com. A/T Part #s are 49-9200-147 and 49-9200-146. M/T Part #s are 49-D105-003 and 49-D015-002. I'm sure there are non-OEM testers that'll work -- check at AutoZone or somewhere like that.

Good luck. Cooling system leaks can be a real pain to find!
