I went with Amsoil and a Mazda filter, might try Wix next time. Currently coming up on my second oil change, doing it at 5k intervals but plan to switch to 7.5k soon, maybe more. With Amsoil and Wix, should be able to go 10k easy.

It was probably the mountains...unless you downshifted and accelerated a lot going uphill, you gained some good mileage on the downhill. Take it from a guy who drives through lots of mountains :-)
