Sure you can rotate them. You'd just alternate between having the bigger ones on the front axle and having the big ones on the rear axle. (dunno)

You should just try putting a white mouse under the hood. I don't think anyone's tried that on a Miata yet.

Good point, but I'd still steer clear personally unless there's just a huge price difference.

'01 and up will have the variable valve timing thing (that, along with the higher compression ratio, seemed to add nothing to the car aside from the requirement to use premium unleaded)...the reason my '01 Miata was nicknamed "Pokey".

++ Fortunately, I dodged that bullet with my '99. My friend who bought his '99 a week before me wasn't so lucky.

Finally got around to putting my K&N drop-in replacement filter in and resetting the ECU. I swear it feels smoother on the 1-2 shift now. We'll see for sure after the commute (all 5 miles of it) tomorrow.
