When the sliding door fails to get locked in.

The most dreaded sound by a MAZDA5 2006 ... is the sliding door's 'easy closer' trying to pull the door in and trying to lock it but fails. The door remains open and there is no way you can close it... maybe if you use packing tape to tie the door in. The problem is: "The door 'Thinks' a...

Trip computer (How does it estimate 'remaining kilometers before empty'?).

Anybody know how the trip computer calculates the 'remaining km' before empty? Does it get reading from the fuel gauge? How does it know if I put in full tank, or just few liters? Is there a button that I need to press to tell it that I've filled in full and that computer can now start...

Where have you driven your Mazda5 .. (Videos / photos)

I thought I would start a thread of the 'Mazda5' in action. i.e. doing its job. This one is along Arizona I15 (connecting Utah to Nevada). Shows the loaded (6 passengers and cargo) Mazda 5, AC full blast. Cruising comfortably in the climbs and downhill. Part of our long drive (june...

When your Second Row seat gets stuck --- Look for obstruction in the rails.

I thought I would share. - During the long drive to L.A., at a rest area, suddenly the the 2nd row seat got stuck. Would not move back or move up front. No amount of lifting the 'release bar would release the seat from being stuck. - After the trip, I went to too much trouble trying to...

Are Those LED brake lights pulsating?

( I thought I would share). I've always noticed it on newer vehicles. The brake lights easily gets my attention. They are just as bright as the other cars but somehow they are 'more visible'. Then I caught one on video: The human eye won't sense the 'pulsing' but with the video clip in FF...

Features Hardly noticed but it is there when needed.

We hardly notice these important features of the MAZDA5. 1. Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) -- This served me once and prevented a fender bender. 2. EBFD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) -- Supposedly helps keep the mazda5 from doing a tail spin during long full...

    Low Clearance Warning Device..

Something to share to the group. Using a PND (Personal Navigation Device) to warn me of low-clearance entrances. I created a 2-minute video clip to demonstrate the idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D12NXxAAcm8

    Can it happen to us?

The toyota issue got me interested and googling on the subject. I'm just thinking if it is true that it is an accelerator pedal problem. Do you think it can happen to our mazda5? They don't share designs do they? And to think that the accelerator pedal is not part of maintenance schedule...

    Mazda5 winter duties.

washed, clay-bar'ed and waxed. But it is winter. Shine is not expected to last forever. So I took pictures before it gets dirty again. Hankook I-pike winter tires on its 3rd winter. Mudflaps. off-the-shelf canadian tire variety. 'mcguivered' to fit. Installed as 'temporary' back in 2006...

    Mazda5 companion

    ELectronic Brake assist

I guess I just want to share. Mazda5's electronic brake assist just saved me from a fender-bender - hood crusher accident. It was in slow stop and go traffic, I was distracted by a runner by the sidewalk :) cars moved so I sort of let go of the brakes and went autopilot.. Then the cars...

    MAZDA5 add-on. poorman's on-star.

I know the Mazda5 may not be that expensive of a car to warrant installing a sort of tracking device. Like those they have on luxury vehicles. But as my teenagers now take turns volunteering to drive me to/from work and they get to 'driver around' in between, We decided we needed to pay...

    Mazda 5 Suspension

I thought I would share this description of the MZ5 Suspension design. (Cut and paste from the workshop manual). It should partly explain how we get 'zoom-zoom', 'precise steering', 'fun to drive' experience. I FRONT LOWER ARM CONSTRUCTION An oil-filled bushing has been adopted for the...

    mz5 remote starter

Hi I have a question on MZ5 dealer installed remote starter. 1. Does your remote starter do a retry? -- Mine does not. So in cold temp, say -30 celcius, I try to remote start the mz5. It cranks up the vehicle. Then it does not know if the motor has actually started. It goes through its...

    Little add-ons that work.

I got one of those wide angle rubber lense, trimmed it a bit and stuck it in the rear. It does help when backing up. Sometimes the little passenger needs eye contact with the driver. This mirror helps.

    mudflaps for GT

No idea why MAZDA does not have mud guard for the Mz5 GT.. here in saskatchewan, flaps help prevent the salt from residing under the side skirt the whole winter season. I had to use those mudflaps at the canadian tire.
