Would like to add the following to my 2012 CX9 touring.... is it possible?

I think it looks great. Your wheels look better than our 2012 GT wheels too! I'm jealous...

    Aftermarket rims for 2007 cx-9

Congrats! Can't wait to see the pics. Glad to hear they fit even with the 20mm offset. Make sure to test them for rubbing at low speed over a speed bump or driveway lip, etc. before really putting them through their paces at speed.

    Time for new brakes

I've used Hawk HPS pads on other vehicles, but not the CX-9. I liked them for the application I used them for, not too sure about on the CX-9 though. I think they're better suited for higher temperature than stock use applications. HPS pads aren't ceramic BTW, they're ferro-carbon pads, and will...

    TPMS saved the tire today

I'm so glad my wife has TPMS on the CX-9. She drove on a flat in her 2004 Ody long enough to destroy the sidewall of the tire because she wasn't aware of the flat. Presumably, with TPMS she'll be aware next time, and know to stop. At least I hope so. FWIW, I bought a battery powered air pump to...

OEM 18 inch VS 20 inch tires

I assume you mean shorter sidewalls on the 20" wheels, as opposed to thinner. That really shouldn't impack the tires traction much at all. I don't know what the 18" tire size is compared to the 20", but if they're narrower in width that should improve traction in snow a little bit. Larger...

    2013 CX-9 GT "Hidden" Features

I would think the turn signal feature would be for lane changes.

Gated gear shift - What is the supposed benefit over more conventional design?

Agreed that it's more about style than anything else. It just takes getting used to for those that are new to it. Some adjust more easily to new controls, and some don't.

OEM 18 inch VS 20 inch tires

I'm not really sure how useful all these posts on owners opinions of the stock tires really are. Opinions will be greatly impacted by different individual expectations of tire performance. Comparing the performance of the stock tires on the CX-9 to those of many other OEM tires on past vehicles...

    Aftermarket rims for 2007 cx-9

I've owned a couple of other Mazdas that I've put aftermarket wheels on without any fitment problems, so I think it has more to do with the specific vehicle than a manufacturer. FWIW, both tires sizes you mention are smaller in diameter than the stock 245/50R20 size. Particularly the 265/40R20...

OEM 18 inch VS 20 inch tires

We've had no problems with the stock 20" wheels or tires on the GT in the snow so far here in Chicago.

    Aftermarket rims for 2007 cx-9

I have no experience with aftermarket wheels for the CX-9, but quite a bit with many other vehicles. I would be concerned about the 20" x 9" wheels with +20mm offset having problems making contact with the body due the low offset with a wider than stock wheel. The 20" x 10" with +50mm offset...

Taking her in for pinging, last chance for anyone with a similar problem?

I've never tried Seafoam, but I know most of the off the shelf products work marginally. I'd had exllecent results from B&G products, particularly fuel injection system cleaning products. They don't sell direct to consumers, only shops, so they can be tricky to find. I usually try to locate the...

    Engine Skid Plate

It looks a bit small for a splash shield, the slots won't help there either. It also looks considerably thinner than other skid plates I've seen for off road use. Not sure I'd trust it for either function really.

Taking her in for pinging, last chance for anyone with a similar problem?

It does sound like an open loop timing advance issue. As soon as the engine reaches normal operating temp and goes closed loop, different timing advance settings eliminate the preignition. That's about the only thing that could cause such a difference between cold and normal orperating...

    2012 CX-9 GT - Brake fuse?

It's certainly possible; I've just never seen a vehicle do that before.

    CX-9 Weathertech mats

I think the OP already tried contacting them and couldn't get a definitive answer.

    2012 CX-9 GT - Brake fuse?

I could see those brake circuit codes impacting TCS and cruise, but not engine power. I don't understand that.

    Catalytic Converter Problem? Please Help.

Yep, the coil failure probably sent unburnt fuel through a cylinder or two. There is an element in the factory 3 way catalytic convertor that can't handle much unburnt fuel. It would take a bit longer for the cat problem to manifest after the coil failure. That would be why the code didn't...

Looking for a more comfortable ride

Mazda is known for designing cars with sport oriented handling. Most Mazda's start with a stiffer spring rate than competing cars from other makes. It sounds like this is what you aren't used to and don't like. I doubt any springs are available for the CX-9 with a softer spring rate, so your...
