Well. . . something is better than nothing & better late than never! We had a similer problem when we disconnected battery, check the secondary (small) wire going to starter for corrosion and replace if necessary!

Hi jordoe28, we have the same protege, not only does the front get wet but the back as well! Our fix was to remove drivers seat, roll carpet up & smear lots of silicone up (inside drivers side center) where a seam is rotted, as well as the whole corner top to bottom! Also we opened the drain...

I don't know if just spray painting over the rusty spots would help it pass inspection but that's what I'd do. Also would highly recommend to get it oil sprayed or undercoated ASAP, after you take off the plastic wheel liners. welcome (one new owner to another)

Thanks for the reply "tweety2300 First off sorry about the delay & the brake fluid is up. I did find out that there is a switch/sensor close to the E-brake that should turn off the DRL when the E-brake is on. I'll be checking this to see if its a repair or replacement. Rob

Hey all Just picked up a 02protege 2.0L stock (Canada) with day time running lights DRL My problem is that "when the E-brake is on, the DRL should be off ", but they stay ON Has anyone run into this before and what did you do? Thanks if you read this BIG THANKS if you reply!
