rear shocks gone again at 52k

Anyone ever heard of "Replacement" brand shocks? Seem to be quite inexpensive: http://www.partstrain.com/store/details/Mazda/5/Replacement/Shock_Absorber_and_Strut_Assembly/2006/Touring/4_Cyl_2-dot-3L/ARBM280303.html?location=Rear-comma-_Driver_Or_Passenger_Side...

    Rusting

Just had the car in for more rear shock repairs...dealer sounds like they might be able to do something about the rust for me. Sounds promising, but we'll see.

    Rusting

No doubt that the salt that is used on our roads doesn't help. But for comparison, my 1999 Civic is just now starting get some rust in the wheel well. It is over 10 years old and the paint puts the 5's to shame! We have owned many Mazdas over the years and have never had rusting this early...

    Leaking rear shock, Canadian winter

Here are pics that I took last year, it is much worse now, and we have since noticed rust forming on the roof: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123748740 Rusting has been a huge problem on the Mazda 3...

    Leaking rear shock, Canadian winter

We've replaced both rear shocks on our 5 and the rear left has given up yet again. Complete garbage. And don't get me started on the squeaky bushings that have been replaced twice already and still make noise! Oh and don't forget about the crappy door lock actuators, we've had to replace both...

How to fix your rear Squeaky Squeaky in less time than it take to drive to the Dealer

Good stuff! Now, how about the front bushings? Are they just as easy?

    Its finally gone!

It is pretty common around here, where a lot of salt is used on roads in the winter. But I am unconvinced. It's messy (drips on your driveway) and usually needs to be done every year. Mazda's corrosion warranty is 5 years (in Canada at least), but it only covers "perforation". So it would...

    Its finally gone!

Our 2006 has had all of the same problems, so I don't think his was just a lemon. A lot of other people have complained of the same issues. Too bad, cause I really do like the car. This biggest issue for me now is the rust. The wheel wells are rotting pretty quickly. Time to move on I think.

    Rusting

The corrosion warranty is 5 years, but only covers perforation, not surface rust. However, some Mazda 3 owners have been successful in getting it fixed under warranty regardless. Apparently this is big problem with a lot of Mazdas in general. Just about every Mazda 3, and protege I've seen...

    Rusting

As I mentioned in another thread, I am having a premature rusting issue around the wheel wells with my 2006 Mazda 5. Any one else have this issue? Here are some pics: You can even see some bubbling in this one. I wonder if this is a similar issue that occurred with the Mazda 3...

'06-'07 Owners, how's your 5 doing these days?

We have an 06. No major issues...squeaky bushings when cold, blown rear shock, AC compressor. Similar issues to what a lot of others have had. Unfortunately, I just noticed some rust forming around all 4 wheel wells! Maybe it is the same issue some Mazda 3s had...

    3. I forget what gauge wire I used but you can check the pics from page 2 of this thread for ideas. Notice the black and red wires that run under the passenger foot well. You will also need a ring style connector to connect the ground wire to the bolt as shown. And a wire stripper/crimper if...

Hmmm, that's weird. I don't remember this being difficult at all. I was worried it would be hard but all I had to do was unzip the seat cover on the back and there was lots of room to work. What model do you have? Mine is a 2006 GT.
