    An important question about RPM.

If your 5 is equipped with an automatic transmission, keep it in "Drive" and you will never over-rev your engine. If you have a stick (or shift your auto manually), just keep the tach needle below the red-line when accelerating.

    Mazda5 real-world Mileage numbers

I'd say half of my trips are to less than 2 miles away. I live at the top of a fairly large hill (about 500 feet vertical), so anytime I go anywhere it's back up the hill, or some other nearby hill. As I mentioned, I'm also a lead-foot. I can't turn a corner from a stop without the front...

    Mazda5 real-world Mileage numbers

It's a function of my short trips over mostly hilly city streets using a lead foot... = 17.3 mpg.

    2012 Mazda5 gasoline overflow?

I've found that dealers rarely find the problem. You waste your time dropping it off, getting rides to and from, and they call you at 4:30 saying the mechanic couldn't identify any problem..."bring it in next time it happens." (nuts)

Cant decide: CX9 or Mazda 5

Not sure where you live, but even in San Diego I wish I had gotten the AWD. Front tire spin under many conditions, ESPECIALLY wet, was a constant problem.

Cant decide: CX9 or Mazda 5

I owned a 2007 CX-9 GT before buying my 2012 Mazda5 GT. I had a Honda Pilot (1st gen) before the CX-9 and loved it. While the CX-9 is several classes higher than the 5, I found it too long at around 200 inches. My Pilot was 190 and seemed just right for that vehicle. Also, I found that Mazda...

How do I fold the 2nd row to make it flat?

You can fold the rear seats flat on a 2012 Mazda5 WITHOUT removing the rear headrests, by just rotating them forward 90 degrees. You do this by pulling on the tabbed loop on the back of the rear headrests and pushing the top of the headrest forward. Here's my 2012 with the seats flat and the...

    First 2012 oil change?

I rarely check my oil with a cold engine (but know I should). I just went out to the garage and checked the oil in my totally cold 2012 5GT and my wife's 2008 Honda CR-V. Both showed oil exactly at the upper (full) hole in the dipsticks. Both cars have had oil changes in the past month or two...

    Real world MPG

Most of you guys know the mileage I've been getting with my 2012 5GT has hovered around 16 mpg. I recognize that I tend to drive fast, that I drive mostly short, hilly trips on city streets and boulevards, with only occasional forays onto the freeways. But 16 mpg...REALLY? I've been thinking...
