Get an OEM alternator and give that a try. I've had two bad aftermarket alternators. The ECU does regulate the voltage on this car.

Well done! Is this essentially the same procedure for removing the half-shaft? Does the half shaft just pull right out of the transaxle if I wanted to replace that at the same time?
