    WTB Stock Air Box

I have an airbox too, which has already had the air box mod performed, I still have the tray. I also have a like new K&N panel filter and all the tubes and resonators, including flapper door which is currently not in box. The only thing I cannot provide is the vaccuum lines and solenoid. If the...

**NEED HELP** finding rod bearings..burning oil?!?!? More...

Its the bearings. Toga makes replacements. Bearings are known to go since the oil in the pan shifts on turns and considering u went so long w/o oil change. Also i would check for leaks just in case. Mobil 1 isn't impervious to wear just better, with mobil 1 you can get away with 5k-7k oil change...

    Dyno done, time for cams.

Ahhh, shims...what memories....Why don't you take your shims to a machine shop and they can make ones that are thicker?

the life and death of a protege5 (56K warning)

Me too! I remember we both started modding our p5s around the same time. At least u are ok I know we had some disagreements but I always respected you and your ride. It looked very nice. Why is it that so many cars get wrecked when they finally start looking nice? And that is one nasty turn...

    Dyno done, time for cams.

So I guess its just coincidence that 107x1.36=145 exactly? i think there is definately something weird going on with the conversions here. There is no way you have 38hp loss, thats more than any protege ever. You should be dyno'ing higher anyways since u are 1. OBD1, 2.Have E-spec pistons and 3...

    Dyno done, time for cams.

Are you guys sure that the graph isn't whp=kw and hp=american whp. Because 107kwx1.34 comes awfully close to 145. It would also make more sense considering the modifications. or maybe not and i am crazy, which has been suggested before.

    Dyno done, time for cams.

If you are having your cams reground, as opposed to having billets ground than I highly doubt you will be able to reach the numbers you mentioned before. The best you can get on a regrind is generally a 10deg increase in duration w/ about + .010" lift increase. For example when i had an...

    Dyno done, time for cams.

I agree with dbilas dynamic, go smaller. 272deg is what tweeked DSM 2.0L's use and i would think only the exhaust needs it. maybe 260+ intake and no more than 270 exhaust, since intake is bigger already.

    Dyno done, time for cams.

You should probably just leave the intake alone. On exhaust 260-270 @.010" 210@.050" .350" lift should be plenty. You can convert that into MM if necessary. Any more than that and you will lose too much low end and your peak will be very high. Also you must get cam gears, possibly before you...

    Worth it to Mod Autos??

I had an auto and it was definately a blast to mod, off the line it was killer. It isn't the best tranny for auto-x though, but still its fun. The protege's auto isnt that bad either and u can mod it through lentech or level 10 for a reasonable price, comparable to upgrading an MT. However my...

    replaced plugs....bumer...pix 56k death

nice to hear they are fixing it. However wouldnt the chambers and pistons be all damaged and scored from crap knocking around in there? I think they should replace everything, engine and all just to be safe...but they probably won't. good luck!
