Does anyone know why mazda decided to go with a CDFP and not an electric one. I beleive the regular 3 has a electric one. Doesnt make any sense to me.

I have issue with mine and an waiting new internals from PG to keep pressure up.

I believe it is because of the working pressure demands of the "Direct Injection". Most standard EFI works around 28 psi to 50psi. The direct injection as you know is almost 2000 psi. at times. The DI injectors need to have enough pressure to spray directly into the combustion chamber (high pressure environment) unlike normal EFI which spray into the intake runner / port.

We have both an in-tank electric fuel pump and the cam driven mechanical pump. The in-tank pump is to maintain the line pressure to the mechanical pump.
