Um im buying a radar detector as we speak. I've heard such raves about the escort passport 8500. They also have a new one out, which is supposed to be the same thing, just all cordless (Solo 2) which is like 30 bucks more, which is up my ally, i hate cords. Does anyone have one of these, or would reccomend another. I dont care for the cheap crap, if im gonna buy it, ill buy a good one the first time. and i refuse to buy one for more then 300ish, although i would love one of those $1200 radar jamming thingys :)

THe 8500 an be linked with te ZR3 laser shifting unit that wil not allow a officer to clock you with laser for another $300. I don't think the solo2 can connect to the ZR3.

Escort is the only choice :D

No one here likes Valentine One? My buddy has one and I think it's the best thing there is. It has saved him (and me) a few times. The only thing is that it has picks up its fair share of false alarms.

Valentine One all the way... more warning than any Escort can offer. Seen it more than once.

Cheers,
Scott

whats the prices on all this stuff? i really didnt even want to spend 300 bucks, but i hear great stuff about the escort passport 8500, and i love the wireless part of the solo 2

Valentine One is $400 ... and you can only buy direct from them. You may find someone selling theirs on eBay.. but I doubt you'll have a warranty from Valentine or anything.. not too sure about that.

the valentine one has a cool display that can be mounted in your dash. plus it tells what direction the radar is comming from. Seems like some cool features.

In PA, at least where i live the cops dont use radar, they clock you between white lines on the road with a stop watch. only state troopers use radar. I NJ its a total different story, i know from experience. I have gotten speeding tickets in NJ,NY, and FL. only got a ticket in pa for changing lanes with no signal and a speeding warning(he didnt clock me).

dont they have to be up in the window, i didnt think u could stick em anywhere in your car and still have em work. i want one of those zr3's now :( maybe ill get a S2 now, and a ZR3 later down the road when i can afford it.

actually the zr3 thingy is $499 and will work with a S2

Realize 2 things:
1. I sell them
2. I just checked the price today, its $300 :p

Good to see it works with the Solo2, I figured it would but was not sure.

The 8500 is also $300, actualy a little less.

THe 8500 has a hard wire kit so you can mount it permanetly. The ZR3 is only a permanent installed peice. It is not a clip on. i has sensores wired and mounted to the front and back of the car.

well the website says 499 so i can only go by that :) and for the moment i only have about a 300 dollar budget and i can get the S2 for 299.98 and free 2 day air shipping, and its from a authorized vendor, so i shouldnt have problems. what woud you reccomend with 300 bucks to spend tho? do you think the zr3 alone would be a better investment then the s2 solo? or...?

I had a Valentine for a while and now I have the Escort.
The Escort blows the Valentine away in every manner.
It falses less, has more range and features, is better packaged and more easily programmed.

********! :p

I just bought a Passport 8500 for $299 from crutchfield w/ a Kenwood 10 disc changer that plugs straight into our decks for $179. Anywho! I heard great things about the 8500 and I like the smartcord that comes with it so you can run the detector in dark mode and use the LED's on the smartcord on you cig ligther so nobody behind you can see your radar. I'll let you know when I get it on Friday. Plus the filters I heard are good, especially living in a city like Vegas when every little thing will give off false alarms.

lol lemme know how u likeit vegas :) BTW, my fax had a paper jam, can you fax over my exhaust again tommorow?
(lol)(rofl) (rofl) (lol)
