Where is the best place to run wires through the firewall

Hello,

I need to run some wires from the engine bay into the cabin.
Surely someone here has had to of done this for the cx-9.
Where is the best place to run some wires through the firewall?

I've been studying the firewall and the car for a few days, and i was looking for a good place. The best place i could think of was following the hood release, but I think i may need to remove the driver side exterior wheelwell cover. Has anyone done this?

There is a wire loom covered by a rubber boot. You can see it when the battery is removed. I used a coat hanger to poke thru it with the wire attached.
