What will break??

Hey guys, I'm getting my new P5 in about a week and I just wanna know what *might* break soon or in a couple of months with a lil more milage. I've searched the forums and saw people talking about their motor mounts or timing belt that needs to be replace, so will this break and is there anything else I might want to take a look at? It's a 03 and it has about 60k on it.
(If there is another thread similar to this one plz post a link thx)

I can tell you what has failed on my wifes 03 that has 46k on it

rear brakes - both pads and rotors were shot
both headlights -the drivers side is being replaced again so 3 all together
battery - battery has died with no reason so could be alt

Well all of those are considered wear items and considered maintance.

I would watch out for motor mounts and sway bar endlinks.

Original struts? Plan on replacing those (consider lowering springs at the same time - i have seen packages that include both).

I assume you are following the scheduled maintenance in the book.

1x more for check the brakes thoroughly and inspect the motor mounts.

4 years on the battery is about all you can reasonably expect. Other than that - save your money - don't replace something now because it 'might' break (i.e. alternator).

Other than that - they are quite reliable cars (uh, 'cept maybe for Jason )

The only things that will "break" per se that I'm aware of are the motor mounts over time (the rubber tears). Aside from that there are occasionally issues with VICS screws coming loose from the intake manifold and ending up in an engine cylinder, the EGR WILL get gunked up and require cleaning and sometimes the rear suspension will start squeaking. That's all I can think of.

i'm one drive down the street from hitting 80k on my car and the only thing that i'm due to replace are the rear brakes. I bought the car with 30k on it.

The VICS has a recall for some of the 2003's.

The P5 has the same ingine as the 3rd Gen Protege. You can get technical information from either area on this site.

I have just short of 200k miles on my 02 and I have had two calipers lock up, the first catalytic converter went out, and a couple ignition coils(we have two on our cars) blew.

All in all a very solid car.
