1999 Mazda Protege LX
I'm not sure if this would go here. But I'm looking to get a new car. Since my fathers accident the insurance has come through. My father is going to keep the protege and downgrade it (put the factory exhaust on, sit it on steelies, raise the height, etc...) Now it's my turn to get a new car (Mazda or non mazda.) I'm not looking for another protege. They're fun but I really want to try out other older cars. I've been looking into a Miata. But it's a 2 seater. Also I've been really looking into a EG and EK Civic and dc2 integras. Have any of you ever owned one of those? How do they perform? Thanks guys. Sorry if it's in the wrong section. And please no American cars..

What's your budget? How are you going to use the car? Why no American cars?
About a budget of 3000. Pretty much as a daily. To school and back and work and back. And for some fun too. Maybe some track use every now and then. I've never really liked American cars. The gas is insane. And I'm not used to working on American cars. And it's not like I'm bias on the American cars. We've owned 2 of them. Ford Escort and a Ford Ranger. I prefer Imports. And we've owned many of them (Mitsubishi Mighty Max, Nissan Sentra, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, another Honda Accord, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry 2011, Honda Oddyssey, and now a Mazda Protege)

What kind of parts? The SR20 engine is very well supported and has a good aftermarket. Check out http://www.sr20forum.com/forum-index.php I could see maybe some body parts for the 200SX not being abundant in junk yards but mechanically you shouldn't have a problem. But if you want to have parts everywhere because everyone else owns the same car as you go for the Honda

That's what I was thinking. I practically live off of junk yards. I barely ever see a 200sx. If there is it'll probably only be one. Same with s13/s14's. I'm really thinking of a Miata too. But it's a 2 seater.. I kinda wanted to have fun with a RWD car.

Miata is ridiculously slow stock, and so is a 240sx. You could look into an older 3 series BMW

if you could find a dc2 gs-r in decent shape in that price range, i doubt you'd ever look back...a better drivetrain in a similarly lightweight and rigid chassis (albeit significantly smaller)...a friend of mine had one through the end of high school, it was a ton of fun even stock... definitely one of the better sport compacts of the past 20 years imo...

BMW isn't horrible unless you buy parts from BMW or pay them to do stuff.

+1 on the integra. Or hell any Honda with an h22 swap would be awesome

Mitsubishi Eclipse. Great cars, fantastic for mods. And you can get a standalone fuel management system. Not a bad way to spend ten thousand dollars..... lol
