What brand of oil do you use?

I know Mazda recommends their own oil, or Castrol (whom I assume makes the stuff for Mazda). Anyone using Mobil one, Redline, Royal Purple, Amsoil, or anything else?

On my last car I was very happy with Mobil1.
On the CX5, I purchased the service package, so Beast is going to get whatever oil the dealership sees fit.

Beast- Is that a play on words, like when they call a fat guy slim? LOL

For my other cars, I used Amsoil before but it was getting to be a hassle to get. Mobil 1 was always cheap and easily accessible. I recently switched to Penzoil Ultra. The CX5 came with a service package so I'll be using whatever Mazda uses. Then switch to Mobil 1 or Penzoil Ultra.

My oil change comes up in a couple of months. I will instruct the Mazda dealer to use oil specified in manual, Castrol synthetic (or Mazda's synthetic).

But I can relate to the question. My Lexus dealer stocks Mobil1 synthetic for the many customers that require it, like me.

I'm going to be using Mazda brand or castrol only. Many oems use castrol these days and it's a good oil. I used to use the mobil1 on my BMW, the 0w40 European formula, which is a good oil but I won't be using Mobil 0w20 on the Mazda.

Any particular reason you don't want to use the Mobil 1 0W20? That's what I planned on using for mine,

So which one exactly? we currently have the Castrol in our CX-5 correct?

I used the Castrol Edge Titanium since it was the Castrol that met the GF-5 requirement as stated in the manual.

After listening to Lake Speed Jr (what a name!) on Adam Carolla's Car Cast podcast, I'm going to stick with mazda or castrol, since it was designed for these oils.

Lake Speed is certified lubrication specialist and oil monitoring analyst. He's also head of technical support a Joe Gibs Racing Oil. If you want to learn a little about oil, listen to the podcast. Here's a link, just click on the audio player below the pic and above the Audi vid.

Had the first (7500 mile) oil & filter change completed yesterday. Purchased the 5-quart jug of Mobil1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w-20 at Wally World for about $27 and the filter at the local Mazda dealer for about $6.50. Mazda dealer charged $15 for labor, so total cost was about $48.50. Normal price using dealer/shop supplies between $60 and $70, so saved a little bit of cash.
