CX-5 Touring w/ Bose Package
Hey All,

Okay I plan on installing the Pioneer GM-D9601 amplifier to hook up my (2) Alpine Type R SWR-1243D 12' subwoofers...I just want to understand a few things here...

I plan on buying the Pioneer AVH-P8400BH as my new stereo...

Metra already has the fitting kit for the double din stereo's for the CX-5 2013

As well as Scosche having the wiring harness and antenna adapter:

http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/installation/2005-up-honda-antenna-adapter

Simply I would run my RCA interconnects from the subwoofer pre-outs to my Pioneer Amplifier and that shouldn't interfere with the already in place Bose Amp (that was stock installed by Mazda for the door speakers) correct?

I was reading an already posted thread about working around the Bose Amp, wondering to myself why would you do that?? I think they were talking about if they didn't replace the stock radio with an aftermarket one with pre-outs correct?

And for the life of me someone please answer this question for me... If I have 9 Bose Speakers in my car but only 1 stock Bose Amp... I only know of 5 channel amplifiers... is this one mutated into putting out 9 channels??

Thanks for all responses

9 speakers does not mean 9 channels. I think its 3 channels. Left right and center (if available while using centerpoint with a good source.)

Hey Skeptic. Are you doing all this yourself? If so, please take pictures :).

Is there any workaround for the setup functionality that is currently in the Mazda headunit? I am not sure what settings there are in the Touring - I know in the GT that replacing the headunit would be pretty difficult due to the need for the setup for the car.

I understand that to be correct: 3 in the dash, 2 front door, 2 rear door and 2 in the C pillar.

I mentioned in another thread that I would think that possibly the dealer could make personalization feature changes in the same way they would for me, but that's a wild-eyed guess. But it was pointed out to me by Say No To Pistons that there were many features that are often made on the fly and with regularity. Losing that ability is a bit on the foolish side having had paid for the option to begin with was the inference there (although I do not have any of them). I guess though maybe the OP values audio quality more than personalization features?

Might want to talk with CRUTCHFIELD. They seem to be well suited to help with upgrades to factory BOSE systems.

You assumption is correct. The reason why people have a workaround for the boseamp is because they would splice into the +/- using a line output converter in order to hook up a subwoofer amp as the bose head unit has no line out for rcas.

Now that you have your OWN headunit with subwoofer amplifier outputs (I'm assuming your headunit has that as I didn't look at the specs), you will not need to do all these bose workarounds.

Simply plug RCAs into subwoofer out on your headunit, run the rcas to your amp along with power/ground/remote, plug your harnesses in, and you should be ready to go. As a tip, I'd run the power wire on the opposite side to where your run the rcas to your amp (something about electrical interference, although most people usually won't have that problem).

Again, I haven't done this to a CX5, but this logic seems to be universal as I've installed systems in the past.

Thank you very much xwedge!!

I will upload pictures when it is all said and done...

Would you like to sell your bose system in your car?
