After replacing my Pioneer 2 way front speakers in my MS3 with Kickers (match my sub now
) I decided to replace the front speakers in the wife's CX7. The door panel was somewhat easy enough to remove. 2 screws and clips on the driver door and 4 screws and clips on the passenger side door.
Upon removing the doors I notice the speakers looks similar to the ones in my MS3. Once I pulled the speaker out there is an integrated plastic shield (none on the MS3), bigger magnet, and the frame was made out of metal vs. plastic. Same wattage marked on both speakers.
After the install all I can say is wow. Made a big difference in sound quality. No more distortion at higher volume levels. The highs are crisp and the bass is clean. The one thing I noticed is that after replacing just the fronts it really exaggerates how bad the stock rear speakers are. I do recommend replacing all 4 at once.
