Turn on foglight witout headlights

I've found in most cases, fogs provide additional soft lighting in low visibility situations, whereas turning on the high beams over-illuminates concentrated air moisture. Also, fogs light up the very bottom portion of your field of view below headlight coverage so you can more clearly see bumps and small obstacles at close range as you drive. This especially helps with stuff like black ice.

Now, the CX-5's stock ones don't look that great to me as I have the HIDs up top. But I'm sure a brighter white bulb down below will even it out some. As for GM fogs, I was definitely sold on those that have been used in the last decade or so (Pontiac G5 and GMC Terrain, etc.) because they use a very small globular lens that uses some type of Fresnel magnification - a lot of bang for the buck, and they worked with parking lights. You see the same technology being used with ultra-bright LED flashlights that are 200+ lumens.
