transmission options?

Well my 5speed tranny in the protege seems to be stuck in 4th.
I know I.can rebuild it but funds are limited and I need a car.
Are there any cars that I can take the transmission out of that'll work my protege?
There's a lot of wrecked cars at the local junkyard for cheap were I could source One.
Yes I've searched but all I get is the g15mr rebuild thread. There's older proteges, probes,
Mx6's and other ford and mazdas that seem that they have same transmissions but I'm not sure! Any input would be appreciated!

Why don't you ask the parts person at a local dealership? He or she may be able to get your part tranny's part number and run a search for other vehicles that have the same number. It may be worth a try, even if it means asking that person to run it by a service technician.
