well my 03 Protege5 with only 55,000 miles on it is currently in the caring hands of Boostdprotegelx .. turns out i had the stupid VTCS/VICS problem but something else is also going on. he removed the vtcs/vics altogether, but the motor still makes this random tapping sound and sputters. this all started like a month or so ago and I haven't been driving it since. now Boost is taking the head off to try to figure this thing out.
here are pics of the manifold and yes the missing flap was inside the manifold. i was only able to retrieve one screw however, and i have no idea how long ago the first one went missing. i guess it could have all just happened recently around the same time.
