Test drove rx8 today

Stock Evo 13.42 1/4 mile

Stock Rx8 14.39 1/4 mile

Take out the turbo and I'd be surprised if the evo was faster than 14.8 or 14.9

and as it stands the rx8 is still (from what i've seen) better on the higher end and will remain that way. You throw even a half-assed turbo on it and you've got your .9 second gap filled.

edit: like I said before Evo will beat an rx8 off the line everytime (the turbo being the main difference).... but from my experience Evo and Sti don't have much on the high end..... both the evo and the sti claim to have 50+hp more than my slightly modded rx7 and i've yet to see anything to convince me of that.

ok, say you do throw on a half ass turbo on the RX-8. For a price mcuh less than a half ass turbo set up, you can have the EVO running 12's. And by saying taking out the turbo is not really fair. The 4G63 engine was specifically made for forced induction. Hence the lower compression. With out the turbo, with the compression where its at, the EVO probablly wouldn't even pull a 16 sec 1/4.

Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the rx-8. But with the mazdaspeed version of the rx-8, I'm sold. I like the wide body kit and spoiler, not to mention I'm a sucker for suicide doors.

for the same price range wtf?...alright with that type of argument you will get no where, for the money people can say they will get a rx7 and put atleast 10gs and kill all evos and sti and rx8, or buy a civic for 6gs and spend 15gs and kill everything on the street...the point is that the rx8 just simply looks better, it is just the best car and thats final!!!! anyone who thinks otherwise will burn in hell.....not really but still, you suck....

uhhh...

Not trying to bash on ya but....

buy a civic for 6gs and spend 15gs and kill everything on the street...

Yea in the 4cyc class of things, I got my 1969 RS/SS Camaro for 6g(guy thought it was a Z28 and didn't want it :) ) and I am about 3g's away on mods to the engine from pooling 9 sec 1/4 and its still street legal at that!

p.s. I have put about 300 bucks into it so far, course I am cheating a little bit I can get insanly good parts for it really damn cheap :) , still even if I couldn't it would take me 6g's tops to do the car up right.

Take out the turbo?...... are you serious? With the same logic, take out the rotor on a RX8 and see what it runs.

and as it stands the rx8 is still (from what i've seen) better on the higher end and will remain that way.

EVOs trap 102mph in the 1/4. RX8 traps 96mph. That means in 4th gear, the EVO is pulling hard. We can all sit here and guess what will happen from a 115mph roll... but who does that anyway?

You throw even a half-assed turbo on it and you've got your .9 second gap filled.

Throw on... I love it. Go to any shop that does custom fabrication right now and see if you can turbo an RX8 for under $8,000.

EVO? $60 boost controller and say hello to 12 second times @ 108mph+.

Think of it this way: That 12mph difference in the 1/4 between the RX8 and EVO with raised boost is the difference between a MSP with basic mods and a Ferrari F355 Berlinetta.
