Stock 08 MS3 Shifter popped out on me!!

Well a very frustrating thing just happend as i was leaving my home.

My shifter just popped out when i was reversing leaving me in the middle of my street. I had to flimsly put it on and pray it would get to first gear and it did and after getting back on my drive way i had to figure out what happend. I was stumped, all i saw was the shifter itself out of the basing, a spring with 2 plastic things and a small metal rod. Here are pics...

Question: What happend? Is this fixable? or do I have to get a new one?

Looks like im stuck at home til i get AAA to tow me to a mazda dealership

Ya doin' a fair bit of powershifting? It ain't fixable, from the looks of it. You might want to consider a short shifter if Mazda won't fix it for you.

thats what i was debating... whether getting it fixed by mazda or getting a short shifter. Which ever is more cost effective..
