Soaked driver's side footwells

Driver's side front and rear footwell carpets are soaked. Aside from the obvious taking a hose to it and checking seals any other common causes to check? No moonroof on ours and a clogged a/c usually backs up on passenger side doesn't it?

Mine seems to be coming from where the steering shaft passes through the firewall. That's a big mess to take apart and find the source though.

after reading that thread, i may check mine just in case. i am in texas so not alot of rain or rust issues but better safe then sorry. i do not want water in my car i had that issue with a ford escort and it sucked car smelled like mildew for months
