So I stumbled upon carbon fiber hoods and rear hatches for the Mazda2...

I have no realistic intention of buying either, but it's the first I've seen anything like this available for the 2. I wonder what the rear hatch really weighs... the rear hatch being replaced would probably save a pretty fair amount of weight I'd imagine.

Just thought I'd share(hi)

edit: and more searching would find they're also offered by Font Motorsports. Doh! Had to search through older threads but it's here:

Has ANYBODY bought/installed either on a 2?

Hmm...I wonder how much lighter they are than the stock hood and rear hatch. I know they ARE lighter, but does anyone know how much each weighs?

I'm still waiting to see someone fit their VS Style hood:

On my Subaru Baja Turbo I weighed the stock steel hood versus the CF hood I threw on. Stock was 50 and the CF was 21 or 22 pounds. I realized that it's apples and oranges, but the ratio should be similar for the hood. The hatch has glass, wiper motor, etc, so the benefit might not be as great--it also sees more abuse. Still cool to see the products made by aftermarket companies for these little 2's though.
