To bad I was hoping you would!! I mean 1-2 hp here or there can add up.
OK Well about 2 weeks before this thread was started I ordered a NC Miata throttle body. It isn't as large as the RX-8, but it is still a lot larger than the M2. To get the numbers, the M2 one is about 1.8" in diameter. The NC Miata is 2.4". The opening in the intake manifold is 2.1" so there really isn't any reason to go any larger than the NC since the intake manifold is your limit. Anyway so I did the things needed to get the NC throttle to fit. I did a number of back to back pulls on the dyno and they were all within 1hp throughout the the entire curve so as we thought there is no gain from the throttle body.
The throttle response was a little more sensitive, but that was to be expected since a slight crack in a larger throttle will cause more air to go in compared to the same angle with a smaller TB. It wasn't bad. I got used to it after driving about 10 minutes with it.
From looking at the data, the intake manifold with the stock TB see's atmospheric pressure all the way up to redline so the TB is not a restriction. The cams definitely seem to be the restriction for the intake of the engine making power without boost.
Someone just needs to go full retard and shoehorn the Fiesta ST's engine in our car.
If I win the lottery, it's happening.
