Rotor Prep

Boys and Girls,

I'm installing new Brembo blanks and PBR ceramic pads on my 02 P5 this weekend. The instructions from Brembo say I should prep the rotors with brake cleaner to remove the factory finish. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing, on one of those "tuner" shows, that they were able to remove the coating by washing them in the sink using simple dishwashing liquid.

I've searched alot of the brake threads and can't see any mention of prepping the rotors before install.

When I installed mine, I sprayed them down with brake cleaner from CT. It helps get the oils and dust off the rotors. The brake cleaner is less than $7.

buy a can or brake cleaner and rinse them off ...2.29 and 5 mins work ...done

yeah you can get brake cleaner here for 99 cents. It is the best way to clean them and it will keep them nice and shiney.
