Removing the turbo system (going N/A)

I have a mazdaspeed protege that isn't speeding any where with it's blown engine. I want to put a regular FS-DE in there and call it a day. I have a line on an 01 parts car so that may end up being the donor.
My question is in regards to the wiring; will the "new" ecu just plug in and everything will do as it should? Or will there be issues stemming from extra wires/sensors/incorrect signals/etc?

Basically the car needs to remain emissions compliant so no check engine lights and I would rather not have to swap out the ecu harness if I don't have to. What are the chances of that?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

No expert, but I would say it should plug right in and u should be good to go with the motor(same motor as msp), ecu, and exhaust manifold from the donor car. As usual, the experts can confirm or deny my claims.

With a good motor it would be easier to drop it in and bolt the turbo setup back up just like it was. Unless the turbo is bad it easier than going N/A and you wont have boost withdrawls. Coming from a P5, I would never want another naturally aspirated 4cyl.

+1, just drop in another fs motor and bolt everything back up. Good as new, well almost new depending on miles on other motor.. lol

Thanks for the input guys. I'm really just hoping to get some solid info on this conversion. My girlfriend is getting the car so she could care less about a turbo on her daily driver.

pcm's should be interchangeable w/o needing a new connector.
you should pm alejo_nin, believe he deturboed an msp once.

Yeah it plugs in fine and everything from a 2L protege will work. It may depend what state you're in if it'll pass smog or not. The motor and ECU need to be from the same year or newer here in Ca.

But like I say it's easier just to keep the turbo setup. Your girlfriend will learn to love it, how could you not?
