Remove side molding?

The previous owner of my car had it sprayed with some kind of paint protection when they bought it from the dealership. The car still looks new so I guess the stuff works.

I'm thinking of removing the side molding but I wonder if it would look weird when I'm done, since the paint protector obviously wasn't applied under the molding.

Any ideas?

Usually that paint protector is applied to the bumper and part of the hood for rock chips unless he had something else done. Is there a clear line on the hood?

Nope, it's not a thin film overlay. Now that I'm home I'll look up the receipt--ok, it's called "super polyshield" w/e.
