Nothing! My Protege is my first car.
Lessee what I drove before, though (not mine):
11-13yrs old, maybe a total of 3 miles on old Russian cars (AutoVAZ 3-series and a 5-series), on backroads and dirtroads. No powersteering. Hell, I don't even remember how the brake pedals and the gearbox felt. 4-speeds, methinks.
Before I got my license, 3 miles on an old-ass 1992 Saturn SC1, 5 miles on a Jeep Grand Cherokee (practiced parking and staying straight/center in lane w/ that).
Getting my license, about 30 miles of practice on a Toyota Corolla. Passed NYC road test, w/ parallel parking and such. b****-ass inspector marked me up for a wide turn, and it so wasn't. I still passsed the road test though (on the first try, unlike my other family members), so w00t
First car driven ever on my real license: 15 miles on a U-Haul van. Wow, that was a weird experience. Big thing. Daymn.
Then, about 300 miles on a falling-apart 1988 Toyota Corolla, whose third replacement engine went on fire a year later. Pretty much all highway miles, MA to NH and back.
Somewhere in between, about 15 miles on a F-250-based U-Haul diesel truck (that thing sucked ass).
Finally, my Protege!
Now I keep criticizing every other car I drive. Very few cars have so far lived up to my "driving feel" standard.
Dodge Caravans officially suck total ass for driving, as do Ford Explorers and Jeep Grand Cherokees (better out of the three). How can people drive these things?! Suspensions suck ass!
I loooove my Pro! (drive)
