Outside mirrors - turn in?

I just got my 2015 CX-5 GT tech package and it seemed like it is possible, per owners manual, to manually turn in the outside mirrors so they can't be bumped while parked but it did not turn in easily and I don't want to break the piece.

I could turn them in manually on my '05 Tribute.

Has anyone tried to push the mirrors in?

Yes. the mirrors do turn in manually. They do require a small bit of force..but they do.
