Not as smooth as I thought

After a 2021 CX-5 GTR purchase I’m disappointed with the amount of road vibration I feel on the freeway. Around town it’s nice. Should I lower tire pressure. Is this vehicle not so good above 55mph?

Have you checked your tire pressure? Cars are shipped with overinflated tires to prevent flat-spotting. Dealer PDI’s often forget this important check.

Have you driven on a wide variety of highway roads?
Is the "road vibration" consistent across all types of freeway surfaces?

My CX-5 exhibits virtually no "road vibration" most highways.
However, freshly surfaced highways using concrete with the lengthwise 'drainage grooves' will cause vibrations in almost any vehicle.

You might want to have the dealer check that all four wheels are properly balanced.
A wheel weight could have come loose and fallen off.

My 2019 sig. with less than premium stock Toyo’s is smooth as glass no matter the road surface or speed. Have dealer check balance, they can also check if any tire is out of round..lovin our CX-5

If you're feeling vibration as opposed to a rough ride then by all means have the dealer check the tires, alignment, etc. If you're just feeling a roughness that's because of the 19" wheels and stiff suspension. My 16 Touring with 17" wheels rides smoother than my wife's 19 GTR with 19" wheels
although the GTR rides pretty smooth.
The smaller rims allow more rubber on the tire.

I've got a 19 GTR. Smoothness on stock toyos wasn't necessarily a problem for me. They just seemed to be super loud. I moved over to Pirelli's (on sale) and haven't looked back, they've been quieter, smoother, and have been fantastic in heavy rain.

Did you feel any vibration on the hi way when you drove it on a test drive? When I drove our 2019 Signature on a test drive there was no vibration on the hi way and it is the same today.

Does a Mazda dealer know how to balance tires? Do not have a lot of faith in Mazda dealers.
Hope you are not trolling around. There are plenty of questions for you to answer, from people who are trying to help you, and you are talking about poor knowledge of balacing tires (apprentice work) from Mazda.

You must have missed my point that a wheel weight could have fallen off, causing the tire to come out of balance.

And if you "do not have a lot of faith in Mazda dealers", then just go to 1 of the 1 million tire shops in the country and have them balance your wheels.

Sorry no trolling. And yes felt vibration when test driving. Just figured it was all in my head. As everyone seems to luv the cx5

First visit would be back to the dealer, as this vibration should be covered under warranty.
After that, I'd go to a specialist tire shop and bite the bullet and get each tire checked out.
You might just have a bad factory tire that can't be balanced.

Just called Mazda dealer. Got service department voice mail. Sometimes I wonder about Mazda in Ohio.

thanks all. made a app. at discount tire mon for balance and possible road force balance. will report back.
Yeah if it's excessive, for sure get that checked. Hopefully road force balance gets you sorted to your liking.

Did you drive it before you purchased it? No review has mentioned excessive road noise in this car and the recorded decibels at 70 mph are the lowest in class. If you have vibration issues and it is a new car, take it back to the dealer. Why go to a discount tire shop?

OP seems to have an odd grudge against Mazda dealers for some reason...

That's pretty common at most dealers nowadays. Mine has vmail but they get back pretty quickly.
When we had a Honda they did the same thing.
