Has anyone tried the Nifty City CarPlay/AndroidAuto integration kit, that supposedly work with the Piece of Crap 2014 CX-5 head unit? Supposedly it preserves all the factory integration like rearview mirror and steering wheel control.

You have a lot of options for that model year, and most will work with the steering will controls. Where do you live? Personally I would get it done right and find a local shop that can make sure the camera and steering wheel controls will work.
