Hi guys,
So I need your help for a part identification...A couple of weeks ago, I had my hatch door painted to correct a few rust spots (2016 CX-5 GT). I disassembled everything myself before going to the body shop. Rookie mistake, I forgot to take pictures to know where everything goes...
I reassembled everything, but I cannot find where this rubber part goes. I am 90% positive that it goes with the handle/release switch (but how?). I tried to put it first, them inserting the release switch, but that's not it, as it makes the the switch too high and the exterior trim does not sit properly. I really don't know where it goes... I also cannot find a part number (maybe included with switch?).
The switch looks to be perfectly sitting in the rubber part, but together, they fit really tightly in the trunk hole. Even if I get it to fit, when I put the exterior trim on, the switch would be too high for it to sit properly. If I just add it to the inside of the switch once everything if in place, it just doesn't hold and serves no purpose. I spent hours trying to figure out, tried so many ways, but I'm left empty handed.
Any help is appreciated and I want to reassemble everything properly.
Thanks!
