Navigation "Safety Mode"

I just drove down through Canada where the navigation was really helpful. However the safety mode enabled while i was driving which meant i couldnt change my route the way i wanted to which meant i had to stop to put in a new destination. I was wondering if there was a way to disable this ive been in the middle of moving across states so i havent been able to check the manual thoroughly.

This is being discussed in the CX5 threads as well. I hate the safety mode. I sent a message to Tom Tom and asked politely to update this. I doubt anything will change.

Both my mazda does this; cx-9 and 6. It nuts. I own other cars previously that don't have this issue. I end up using voice control whilst driving. Not perfect but it's a workaround.

I'd be very interested in a solution to disabling this silly feature.
