"Both CUVs are based on the same platform**[/COLOR], and while the Ford can realistically make the best-in-class claim, the Mazda simply can't."

Luv that quote, they are truly incompetent at MT.

Another MT non-event, GLxxx is the winner, let's hope it's more reliable than last GL, R, ML's that came out of Alabama factory, all were crap from reliability standpoint (I used to own a 06 ML).

**Edit: Looks like MT just edited the online article, to something about both CUVs being in the same segment. Somebody at MT is paying attention.

This article is really hack reporting. Also the 1.6L escape could only manage 17.7 mpg in their test.

So using their criteria for the escape.

The Criteria
DESIGN ADVANCEMENT
Sure it looks completely different than the previous gen escape.
ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE
"rattled and shook violently over bumps. "The NVH was shocking, as if body panels were about to start popping off..."
How many recalls has the escape had in the 1st year already?
PERFORMANCE OF INTENDED FUNCTION
Carries people, has good cargo and interior space.
EFFICIENCY
17.7mpg!!!!!!!!!! Even the big GL did better.
SAFETY
Good on saftey no qualms here.
VALUE
Most expensive in the segment.

Sounds like they really nailed it.

Yet the worst they could say on the cx-5 was that it was slow and the base interior wasn't up to snuff. hmmmm
