MGT's Blendmount for Dashhawk install

I ordered an extension cable for the OBD2, I'll tuck it in the headliner, down the A-pillar, then under the dash to the port. Should be completely stealth.

That looks slick. I especially like the encapsulation. Might have to consider it, since my fiance likes to put multiple pairs of sunglasses in the dash map compartment and it just pisses me off thinking about them slamming into the DH.

I don't use the sunglass compartment so I should be fine. Besides, I don't really care for the look of the encapsulation on it. Some people that I've talked to have said that's an odd spot, but when you think about it, it's really not, as you look just below it for your RV mirror. We'll see once it's installed.

Found this while shopping online today. I think I'm going to mount my DH and my 8500 from the rearview mirror using a blendmount and another rear view mirror mount. What are your thoughts on this?

Looks ricer IMO....., but I'm old school

Received it tonight, very nicely packaged and comes with great instructions. Didn't realize how much adjustability it comes with, and the parts look great. I'll be installing this as soon as the car is back from the dealer (should be tomorrow).

Speaking of radar, they have a Blendmount coming out for the Escort detector line soon. I'm debating on waiting to get that or buying another style mount.

Ok, I'll break it down as best I can without taking pics (can't find my camera). The stalk height is adjustable from 1/2" to 2 1/4" and also contains five small washers to fine tune in between. On the mount itself (which attaches to the stalk) you've got four holes to mount it through, which are in a pattern like this:

/ o \
/ooo\

so you can move the bracket a little more and also rotate it to the drivers side if you like. The kit comes with all the necessary parts, but you do have to opt for the $20 extra extension cable, so that you can run the cable up to the RVM. 3M Dual-lock tape to mount to the bracket, and very nicely written instructions (which I think I'll scan and post) for those who might be interested.

Steve, word of advice, dont mount with the 3m tape to the DH. Get that 3M industrial Velcro. that way you can pull it off and reattach it without have to unmount it or re-two way tape it. that is how mine and Mikes are mounted and it works very nice!

Mine's got the industrial velcro on it right now from the current mount on the steering column. The bracket already has the dual-lock stuff, which is the same as the stuff that came with the DH. You're still able to remove it from the bracket with it on there.

thats cool. I was thinking it was stuck to the DH and the mount and you would have to redoe everything everytime you wanted to change anything on the DH.

Yeah, my bad on not explaining the stuff more. That dual lock is pretty nice, it doesn't appear to go bad over time like Velcro, but who knows.
