Mazda CX-9 2013 Transmission issues...Help

Hi my Mazda cx9 2013 GT is having transmission issues, coming up with codes p0981d p0984e it goes into AT mode with engine light on then flashes and has to be turned off to restart it to bring it our to drive normal again. I've made a appointment to see a transmission specialist but I am at a loss as a few have said to scrap my car and I cannot afford another car and cannot really afford a new transmission. Any help would be great if they have delt with this. I am in Australia

May be you can try to get a used transmission from a salvage yard and that should cost less as least in the US.

Those are shift solenoid codes, which doesn't automatically mean the transmission is shot. At the very least, the transmission fluid level and quality should be checked. And if there's any question about the fluid, it's worth a shot to replace it by doing a series of drain/fills. And beyond that, there's other testing that could (and should) be done on the transmission, before replacing it.
