How much of a PITA would it be to safely run 55w?

I've been thinking about upgrading to 55w low beams as well as fogs. This is what i believe i will need:

55W Slim Ballasts w/ 8000K D2S: Low Beams
D2S Adapter Cables: Adapter Cables (not sure if i need these or not, please inform me whether i do or not)
55W Slim Ballasts for fogs 8000K H11: Fog Lights

that should be it. I recently put in the 35W setups however there are a couple of questions I have regarding the upgrade to 55W:

Anything I should know beforehand or be worried about?
Will either set up get too hot and melt any surrounding pieces?
Will i need to run a seperate cable from the ballasts to the battery or should the stock cables be able to handle it, simply plug & play?

i mean i dont really see a point in why u should be switching from a 35w to a 55w
