How can I take off my non-OEM tint?

The two-layer tint is finally crinkling off my windows. What's the best way to take them off myself? Is there a way to take off just the clear layer and leave the colored layer? I'll post pictures once I figure how to do it.

Found this and it seems better than using ammonia to remove the tints. Maybe you have a fabric steamer already.

See how much a shop charges to take them off. It usually isn't much money compared to breaking the de-fogger lines on the rear glass and having to fix that.
